EXPERIENCE & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The work.
And what went into it.

Selected examples of patient education, technologist development, and management, followed by my career history.

01

PATIENT EDUCATION

A clearer start to PAP therapy.

Sanford Health Equip · Sioux Falls, SD · February–June 2026

PAP setup is also an education conversation. I explained sleep-study findings, mask selection, equipment operation, and practical adherence strategies, while helping patients work through their questions.

  • Conducted approximately seven PAP device setups per day.
  • Organized follow-up at one week, one month, and three months using AirView.
  • Created a patient-friendly CPAP and mask brochure using AI-assisted drafting; my supervisor also used it and requested it remain available.
  • Used Microsoft Lists to make outstanding follow-up tasks easier to track.

Focus: understandable education, practical troubleshooting, and organized follow-up.

EDUCATION & MENTORING

An A-STEP course, built from the ground up.

Solstice Sleep Institute / Pulmonary & Sleep Consultants · January–September 2025

I conceived, developed, and launched an AASM-accredited A-STEP Course, an 80-hour introductory course in sleep medicine, taking it from an idea to classroom instruction and hands-on clinical learning.

  • Created course policies, curriculum, schedules, teaching materials, quizzes, examinations, and training documentation.
  • Directed two cohorts and instructed three learners. Their AASM course final-exam scores were 89%, 90%, and 94%.
  • Built an Excel gradebook and PowerPoint materials to support learner progress.
  • One graduate subsequently joined the lab as a technologist.

The scores above describe the AASM course final examination.

MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS

Directing the lab while staying close to the work.

Pioneers Medical Center · Meeker, CO · June–November 2024

As Sleep Lab Director of a two-bed laboratory, I combined operational responsibilities with hands-on testing. My work connected patient schedules, staffing, supplies, orders, and interpreting-provider communication.

  • Managed daily operations, staffing, scheduling, order review, and supplies.
  • Established daily communication with the interpreting medical director in place of a weekly reading cadence, improving study availability and report turnaround.
  • Supported accreditation and quality-improvement work.
  • Taught three students in the existing A-STEP course. All passed the course; two later obtained RPSGT credentials.

Additional coordination experience: interim Sleep Lab Coordinator supporting five locations in 2025.
